Paediatric records

How do I enforce sharing on behalf of a child?

For children's records, PKB allows coordinators to enforce sharing on behalf of the child. This prevents the patient or carers from overriding sharing with another party.

You have to enter a reason for this and the patient and carer will see the reason in the patient's record.

Any coordinator can remove the enforcement as the situation changes in the future.

To do this click 'Patients'. Search for a patient and click the patient's name. Click 'Edit’ next to a team. At the bottom of the page is the "Child safety" heading - tick the box to prevent patient and carers from editing sharing.

How do I prevent carers being removed automatically when a child turns 16?

When a child turns 16, the system will automatically remove a carers' access to the child's record. To prevent this, coordinators can search for the child in PKB, click on their name and click 'Edit' next to each carer they want to maintain access for. At the bottom of this page, there is a box labelled 'Maintain access after 16th birthday' - tick this, and enter a reason in the box below.
